What can I expect from the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and get a feeling for one another. For me it is an important session for gaining a general understanding of the things you are struggling with, and possibly already assessing whether the kind of therapy I offer could be helpful in your case. Sometimes we need one or two further sessions before I can judge that. For you, the first session is a chance to get a picture of how I work and to consider whether you would like to work with me in the future. If you then come to me for therapy, we would discuss all the important details of frequency, duration and so on together.

Statutory health insurance (GKV)

The costs of psychotherapy are covered in full by the statutory health insurers. It is important that you bring your valid insurance card to the first session and then at the beginning of each new quarter. Billing takes place directly with your insurer on the basis of the standard scale of charges (EBM).

Private health insurance

Private health insurers often cover either a share or even the full costs of outpatient psychotherapy. Please clarify the terms of your policy with your insurer before the first session. Billing is based on the official fee schedule for psychotherapists (GOP).

Self-payers

If you decide to pay for therapy yourself, treatment can begin immediately, provided a therapy place is available. Billing is based on the official fee schedule for psychotherapists (GOP).

Online Therapy

For people who do not live in Berlin, or cannot come to the practice, I also offer individual video sessions, making therapeutic support possible regardless of where you live. The video sessions take place on a privacy-compliant platform. If you are interested in online treatment, please email me at praxis.godau@protonmail.com. Please understand that this offer is currently available to self-payers only.
